SYNOPSIS: This beautifully illustrated book is about the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, which was formed by a group of young English artists who were rebelling against the abuses and excesses of the art of their day.  Their work reflected back on the romance of medieval chivalry, as well as addressed serious social issues in Victorian society.  Their attention to naturalistic detail was dramatic, yet they were often criticized because of this very detail.  The organization disbanded after only five year, but their work lives on.  This book includes the work of over 40 artists, including Rossetti, Millais and Holman-Hunt, with over 100 full-color illustrations.  A great resource on the topic!
